A Message From Brian, One of Our Founders
In my dad’s later years, I remember him once saying to me:
I must write down all the places I’ve been to, and the things I’ve seen.
I understood that my dad wanted his life to matter, that he wanted to be remembered, and to not be forgotten.
But the rest was not clear to me. I remember thinking: “Where will we write this down? Who will see it?”
Years later, after my father had passed away, I began working in the funeral industry and I understood what he was telling me.
I was designing obituary software and I realized that the beauty and preciousness of a life was not being captured in an obituary.
I looked at online memorial website offerings and felt they were falling short. They were busy and confusing. They lacked focus and were not capturing a life with beauty.
Something different was needed. I helped create Loving Memorials to preserve and celebrate the story of a life with simplicity and beauty.
The Loving Memorial for my father, Antonio Gomes, was the first Loving Memorial that was created. When I created it, I was proud to share it with family and friends. Now, I am proud to share it with the world, knowing that I have honored my father’s desire to not be forgotten.

An Unexpected Closeness Through Remembrance
I was surprised by what happened to me in the process of creating my father’s Loving Memorial. As I added pictures and told the story of his life, there was so much I experienced personally.
There were smiles and laughs, along with pride, gratitude, comfort, healing, and celebration. But most of all, there was love. It brought me so much closer to him, and that is when I understood Loving Memorials more clearly.
I realized that for a loved one to not be forgotten, that means that we, the living, remember them. Through the act of remembrance, we feel love and are closer to them. This is why not being forgotten is so important – it’s important for our loved one, and for us.
